Through my eyes

Vietnam, as I see it

I photograph what moves me on the road: light, people, the quiet moments in between. These are some of my favourite series.

Incense smoke in front of Thiên Mụ pagoda in Huế

Huế

The imperial city

In Huế everything slows down. The incense rises in front of the seven floors of Thiên Mụ pagoda, by the Perfume River, and the city invites you to look without hurry.

Tràng An lit up at night during the UNESCO anniversary festival

Ninh Bình

Tràng An by night

Fireworks over Tràng An to celebrate ten years since UNESCO listed it as World Cultural and Natural Heritage (2014–2024). A night I will not forget.

The north

Among the rice terraces

Terraces carved into the mountains, buffalo grazing in the fields and clouds resting on the peaks: the north is green, quiet and enormous.

Belén's father on a path in the old forest of Cúc Phương

Cúc Phương

The old forest

My father walking through the old forest of Cúc Phương, Vietnam's first national park. Some of my favourite photos are of the people I love in the places I love.

Bà Nà

Central Vietnam

Hội An and Đà Nẵng

Round basket boats in the coconut forest of Hội An and the Golden Bridge held by two stone hands above the Bà Nà hills: the centre is where my series on Vietnam began.

“Among the sacred stones of Mỹ Sơn, the rain whispers stories of a kingdom that shone from the 3rd to the 15th century. A moment of peace, mystical and eternal.”

— Belén, in Mỹ Sơn
